League recap: Babylon extends winning streak with victory over Center Moriches

Babylon extended the longest winning streak in Section 11 Division IV this week by beating Center Moriches, 34-0. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.

Shoreham-Wading River was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Wildcats defeated Stony Brook 40-21.

Shoreham-Wading River's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Danny Hughes threw for 45 and one touchdown and Isreal Squires had 45 yards receiving. On the ground Tyler Anderson chipped in 183 yards.

Shoreham-Wading River's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hughes has thrown for 451 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Squires has 14 catches for 338 yards. Anderson leads the league in rushing with 1148 yards.

A big matchup in Section 11 Division IV this week will be when Hampton Bays takes on Mercy. As it stands, the Baymen are in fifth, while the Monarchs are in fourth.

John Glenn moved up to 448 from 492 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Knights were able to make move up by topping Port Jefferson 43-14.
