Basketball Recap: Riverdale Ridge Ravens vs. Frederick Golden Eagles
The Riverdale Ridge Ravens came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 43.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 57-42 win over Frederick. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Riverdale Ridge also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverdale Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brihanna Crittendon, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Crittendon is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 20 every time she's taken the court this season. Brooklynn Charlo was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Frederick still got an impressive performance from Gabby Jima, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Riverdale Ridge pushed their record up to 15-3 with that victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 42.9 points. As for Frederick, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverdale Ridge will take on the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Fort Morgan is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for Frederick, they will be playing at home against the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Niwot will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 42nd).
