Baseball Game Preview: Taft Eagles vs. ITW David Speer Academy Pride

The Taft Eagles will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the ITW David Speer Academy Pride at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. ITW David Speer Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Taft, who comes in off a win.

Taft is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Brooks. Taft blew past Brooks 16-2 on Tuesday. Taft not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9, 2024.

Carlos Gonzalez made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Gonzalez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Korolis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Nathan Meara was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Taft always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for ITW David Speer Academy's offense. They lost 16-0 to Chicago Hope Academy on Friday.
