Maize had already won 16 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it 17 on Friday. They never let the Hutchinson Salthawks get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Porter Newell looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Maize got a massive performance out of Scotty Hadley, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs Hadley has posted since back in March. Parker Meirowsky was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Maize always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Maize's win bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Hutchinson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-19.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Maize beat the Salthawks by a score of 12-2 later that day.
