Basketball Recap: Georgetown Visitation Prep Starts Season with Win at Home

Georgetown Visitation Prep took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 59-45 win over the Jackson-Reed Tigers. The Cubs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Georgetown Visitation Prep was led to victory by Alyssa Fitzgerald and Becca Safavian. Fitzgerald posted 12 points along with seven assists and four steals, while Safavian dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Those seven assists gave Fitzgerald a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlotte West, who put up 12 points and five boards.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Georgetown Visitation Prep will host Coolidge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jackson-Reed, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Bard at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
