Basketball Game Preview: Martins Ferry Purple Riders vs. Barnesville Shamrocks

The Martins Ferry Purple Riders will venture away from home to square off against the Barnesville Shamrocks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Martins Ferry will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Monday, Martins Ferry beat Warren 48-38.

Meanwhile, Barnesville didn't have quite enough to beat Linsly on Monday and fell 48-45. The Shamrocks haven't had much luck with the Cadets recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Barnesville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Martins Ferry, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Martins Ferry beat Barnesville 35-26 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Martins Ferry since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
