Recap: Brighton Bulldogs vs. Widefield Gladiators

After flying high against the Wheat Ridge Farmers on Thursday, the Brighton Bulldogs came back down to earth. Brighton fell 48-35 to Widefield on Saturday.

Brighton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Haleyanna Martin, who scored seven points along with 15 rebounds and three steals. Martin also pulled down eight+ rebounds for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Brynn Davis, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Widefield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kasaya Krause, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and five assists. Krause set a new season high mark in steals with seven. Isabella Monk was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Brighton's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Widefield, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brighton's road trip will continue as they head out to face Eaglecrest at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. Eaglecrest presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brighton in Colorado (Eaglecrest is ranked 18th, while Brighton is ranked 215th). As for Widefield, they will head out on the road to face off against Discovery Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Discovery Canyon is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
