Afton Urquhart leads a balanced attack to beat Conestoga Christian

Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact the Lititz Christian Eagles proved on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-30 victory over Conestoga Christian. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lititz Christian also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.

Lititz Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Afton Urquhart led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Urquhart is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Emma Christner, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Conestoga Christian saw an underclassman step up: Katie Denlinger scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her.

Even though they lost, Conestoga Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Lititz Christian's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Conestoga Christian, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.

Lititz Christian will look to defend their home court on Friday against Harrisburg Academy at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Harrisburg Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 back in December of 2023. As for Conestoga Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Coventry Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Coventry Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
