Preview: Brawley Wildcats vs. La Quinta Blackhawks
Having just played yesterday, the Brawley Wildcats will get right back to it and host the La Quinta Blackhawks at 5:00 p.m. on December 28th.
On Wednesday, Brawley came up short against Aliso Niguel and fell 56-43. While losing is never fun, Brawley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 704th, while Aliso Niguel is ranked 169th).
Domanic Vallejo put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 14 points along with three steals. He scored a full 32.6% of Brawley's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Flores, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, La Quinta had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 52-47 win over Twentynine Palms on Wednesday.
Brawley now has a losing record at 6-7. As for La Quinta, their win bumped their record up to 4-10.
Brawley was dealt a bruising 72-30 loss at the hands of La Quinta in their previous meeting back in December of 2021. Thankfully for Brawley, Malachi Murrell (who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
