Basketball Recap: Marysville Getchell Comes Up Short

Marysville Getchell lost against Shorecrest back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Marysville Getchell fell to the Shorecrest Scots 61-55. While losing is never fun, Marysville Getchell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Shorecrest is ranked 16th).

When it comes to explaining why Marysville Getchell lost, don't look at Arion Palacol. Despite the final result, he posted 20 points along with five assists and five steals. That was a full 36.4% of Marysville Getchell's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Harris, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 15 points.

Marysville Getchell's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Shorecrest, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-2.

Coming up, Marysville Getchell will be playing in front of their home fans against Mount Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Mount Vernon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches. Shorecrest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
