Volleyball Recap: Peyton Miller and Emily Rodriguez Secure Win for St. John Paul II Academy

St. John Paul II Academy had won four straight at home, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 9-7 to make it five. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the West Boca Raton Bulls. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

St. John Paul II Academy was led to victory by Emily Rodriguez and Peyton Miller. Rodriguez had eight digs and three aces, while Miller had ten digs. That's the most digs Miller has posted over her last five contests.

They weren't the only good servers: St. John Paul II Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 19 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Boca Raton only served five.

As for West Boca Raton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since September 18th.

Sofia Maldonado and Ozum Oztas certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Maldonado had 15 assists and eight digs, while Oztas had 15 digs. Maldonado is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

St. John Paul II Academy has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Somerset Prep on the 14th. As for West Boca Raton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Boca Raton on the 8th.
