Softball Game Preview: Citizens Christian Academy Patriots vs. Tiftarea Academy Panthers

The Citizens Christian Academy Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Tiftarea Academy Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Citizens Christian Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Tiftarea Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Citizens Christian Academy is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Wayne County just ended the team's 12-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Yellow Jackets, falling 10-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Patriots, who until this contest were averaging 3.84 runs allowed.

Citizens Christian Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Gourley, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Tiftarea Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Terrell Academy on Tuesday and fell 5-4.

Summer Gray put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gray was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Tiftarea Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Citizens Christian Academy, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 15-4.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Citizens Christian Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Tiftarea Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Citizens Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Tiftarea Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2023. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
