Baseball Recap: Raritan Drops Season-High Score on Long Branch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Raritan). Everything went their way against the Long Branch Green Wave on Wednesday as they made off with a 13-3 win. Winning may never get old, but the Rockets sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

James Nichols made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had over his last three matchups. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Raritan let Antonio Lamberti and Alan Warren run wild. Lamberti went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Warren went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Warren a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Evernham, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Raritan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Raritan's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Long Branch, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Raritan will take on Barnegat at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Long Branch, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Matawan Regional at 10:00 a.m.
