Basketball Recap: La Joya Takes a Loss

La Joya suffered their biggest defeat since November 21, 2024 on Tuesday. They took a blow against the Vela Sabercats, falling 80-52. The Coyotes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-17.

Despite the loss, La Joya saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anthony Romero went 11-for-26 en route to 31 points and eight rebounds. David Garcia was another key player, putting up four points and nine boards.

La Joya's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, La Joya will be taking part in a tournament against Rio Grande City at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. As for Vela, they will take on Harvest Christian in a tournament on Thursday.
