Basketball Recap: Salinas Comes Up Short on the Road Against Los Altos + How To Watch

Salinas kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Los Altos Eagles. The Cowboys were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Salinas lost, don't look at Alice Uchida. Despite the final result, she posted 18 points and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Soraya Hernandez-Alonzo, who earned eight points and six rebounds.

Los Altos was led to victory by Isha Peruri and Ella McFarlane. Peruri went 9-for-16 to rack up 21 points and seven boards, while McFarlane shot 44% from the field on her way to 21 points and five rebounds. The contest was McFarlane's fourth in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Chloe D'Amico, who scored six points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Los Altos' win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Salinas will venture away from home to challenge Saratoga at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Los Altos, they will take on Santa Teresa in a tournament on Thursday.
