Basketball Game Preview: Sandy Creek Cougars vs. Superior Wildcats

Sandy Creek is 0-10 against Superior since February of 2016 but things could change on Saturday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Sandy Creek Cougars duke it out with the Superior Wildcats at 2:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Sandy Creek is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Nebraska Christian 74-52 on Thursday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-28.

Meanwhile, Superior entered their tilt with Standing Bear on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Everything went their way against the Grizzlies as they made off with a 56-33 win. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Grizzlies are ranked 183rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Superior's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. As for Sandy Creek, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.

Sandy Creek suffered a grim 60-38 defeat to Superior in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Sandy Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
