It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but New Braunfels Thunder had no problem doing just that on Friday. They never let the Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy Eagles get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. Considering the Homeschool have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Justin Rusick was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Gavin Sealey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
New Braunfels Thunder always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The win (which was New Braunfels Thunder's fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy, they dropped their record down to 6-11-1 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.
As of now, neither New Braunfels Thunder nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
