Recap: Manchester Red Hawks vs. Northwest Catholic Lions
The Manchester Red Hawks pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a serious blow against Northwest Catholic, falling 86-56. While losing is never fun, Manchester can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Northwest Catholic is ranked 12th).
Despite the loss, Manchester still got an impressive performance from Tiara Tyson, who scored 41 points. That was a full 73.2% of Manchester's points, marking the 13th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Elise Ryan was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Manchester struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
This is the second loss in a row for Manchester and nudges their season record down to 7-6. As for Northwest Catholic, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manchester won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bloomfield at 4:00 p.m. on January 24th. Bloomfield is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Northwest Catholic, they will head out on the road to challenge Bristol Eastern at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
