Basketball Recap: Hobbton Wildcats vs. Neuse Charter Cougars
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hobbton). They strolled past the Neuse Charter Cougars with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 70-54. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 61-42 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Hobbton found their leader in freshman Richard Simpson, who posted 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Simpson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Deonte Darden, who put up 13 points.
Neuse Charter's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaeem Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Williams a new career-high in points. Klayton Tew was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven rebounds.
Hobbton's record is now 5-8. As for Neuse Charter, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8.
