Basketball Game Preview: Utopia Buffaloes vs. Comstock Panthers

Utopia has gone 8-2 against Comstock recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Buffaloes are taking a road trip to take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Utopia lost to Knippa on the road by a 44-25 margin. The matchup marked the Buffaloes' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Jett Smothers put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted six points and three steals. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Vasquez, who earned seven points.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Comstock's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 56-51 to D'Hanis.

Comstock's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Utopia, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Utopia came up short against Comstock in their previous meeting back in December of 2025, falling 48-42. Can the Buffaloes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
