Softball Recap: Marlow Drops Highest Score of Season Against Ninnekah

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marlow). They blew past the Ninnekah Owls 13-1 on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Kate Doughty was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Marlow let Lakyn Foss and Grace Lovelady run wild. Foss went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Lovelady went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most hits Foss has posted since back in August. Daylin Dennison was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Marlow moved to 8-15 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Ninnekah, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marlow will welcome Jones at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ninnekah, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Dibble at 4:30 p.m. The Owls are facing the Demons at the right time seeing as the Demons are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
