Basketball Recap: Shannon Comes Up Short

Shannon and Newton County squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Shannon had to settle for second. They fell 47-35 to the Newton County Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Red Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Cougars are ranked 50th).

Shannon has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. As for Newton County, their record now sits at 15-8.

As of now, neither Shannon nor Newton County have any future games scheduled.
