It was a good run, but Illini West unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to the Mendon Unity Mustangs. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Kennedy Gunning paced Illini West's offense, picking up five kills. Gunning got some help from Corin Robinson and her seven assists. Finally, Gunning was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Illini West's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Mendon Unity, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Illini West has already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Augusta Southeastern on the 6th. As for Mendon Unity, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Triopia/Virginia on the 8th.
