League recap: Union County stuns Butler County in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Union County, who took down 143rd ranked Butler County, 49-35.

Hancock County's Justin Hamilton rumbled for the longest rushing play in 2A District 2 this season in his game against McLean County last week. Hamilton ran for 56 yards on the play and finished with 141 on the day as his team bested the Cougars.

Hancock County's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Koert Morris threw for 37 and two touchdowns and Hamilton had 24 yards receiving. Desmond Clarkson helped Hancock County's passing attack out by catching one ball for nine yards.

Hancock County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hornets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Morris has thrown for 598 yards and eight touchdowns this season, while Beau Case has six catches for 239 yards. Hamilton leads the league in rushing with 726 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Owensboro Catholic takes on second place Hancock County. Owensboro Catholic beat Todd County Central last week, while Chris Morris's team topped McLean County.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Hornets take on the Aces. Hancock County has allowed 75 points this season, while Owensboro Catholic has given up 64. The Hornets allowed 0 points last week as they defeated Marshall Enoch's team.

John Edge's team extended the longest winning streak in 2A District 2 this week by beating the Rebels, 51-17. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
