Basketball Recap: Simi Valley Falls Despite Big Games from Harshith Rajan and Andrew Oglivie

Simi Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 71-63 to the Calabasas Coyotes. Even though they lost, the Pioneers' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 52 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Despite the loss, Simi Valley had strong showings from Andrew Oglivie, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals, and Harshith Rajan, who shot 67% from the field en route to 16 points. Thanks to that strong game, Rajan now owns an excellent 45.7% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Lucas Glaze, who posted seven points.

Simi Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Calabasas, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Looking ahead, Simi Valley will host Hueneme at 7:00 p.m. on the 8th. As for Calabasas, they will square off against Palo Verde Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
