Basketball Game Preview: St. Thomas Aquinas Saints vs. Newfound Regional Bears

The St. Thomas Aquinas Saints are taking a road trip to square off against the Newfound Regional Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, St. Thomas Aquinas came up short against Campbell and fell 64-52.

While Newfound Regional didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took down Inter-Lakes 60-42 on Wednesday. The game marked the Bears' most dominant win of the season so far.

Newfound Regional has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their loss ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2.

Everything came up roses for St. Thomas Aquinas against Newfound Regional in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 77-31 victory. Will St. Thomas Aquinas repeat their success, or does Newfound Regional have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
