Volleyball Recap: Blythewood Falls Despite Big Games from Mya Johnson and Grace Campbell

After flying high against Spring Valley on Tuesday, Blythewood came back down to earth. The Bengals lost 3-0 to the Lugoff-Elgin Demons on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Bengals in their meetings with the Demons: they've now lost four in a row.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Lugoff-Elgin scored at least 20 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-21, 25-21.

Despite the loss, Blythewood had strong showings from Grace Campbell, who had seven digs and two aces, and Mya Johnson, who had ten digs. Campbell has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last five times she's played.

Lugoff-Elgin can attribute much of their success to Maren Cox, who had 13 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Cox has posted since back in September.

Blythewood suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 11-14. As for Lugoff-Elgin, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Blythewood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against West Florence on the 7th. As for Lugoff-Elgin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Ridge View on the 7th.
