The Bishop's Knights and the Torrey Pines Falcons will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop's is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.
Last Friday, Bishop's didn't have too much trouble with Sage Creek as they won 53-34. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Bobcats are ranked 492nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ayla Johnson and Margo Leong were among the main playmakers for Bishop's as the former went 8 for 15 on her way to 18 points and four steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. Leong has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Moana Peterson, who posted eight points and three steals.
Bishop's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 11 consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Torrey Pines came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 69-47 victory. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.
Torrey Pines found their leader in sophomore Katie Tal, who went 8 of 10 on her way to 19 points in addition to six assists and four steals. The dominant performance gave Tal a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Kelley, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.
Torrey Pines pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Bishop's, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Bishop's has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 36.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Torrey Pines struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything went Bishop's way against Torrey Pines in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, as Bishop's made off with a 90-65 win. Will Bishop's repeat their success, or does Torrey Pines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
