Basketball Recap: Leggett Starts Season with Win on the Road

Leggett had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 48-47 victory over the Centerville Bulldogs. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 42-40 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2016.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Leggett to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bianca Perkins, who went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc to rack up 23 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Perkins a new career-high in shooting accuracy (53%). Priscilla Henderson was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Coming up, Leggett is taking a road trip to square off against New Waverly at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Centerville, they will host Latexo on Friday.
