Football Game Preview: Camdenton Lakers vs. Lebanon Yellowjackets

The Camdenton Lakers will square off against the Lebanon Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Camdenton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Jefferson City, sneaking past 28-26. The Lakers' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Lebanon last Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Waynesville out of the water with a 56-7 final score. Considering the Yellowjackets have won four contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Camdenton better keep an eye on Brayden Christian. He was instrumental in Lebanon's win, rushing for 186 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Christian's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 115 rushing yards. Josiah Simmonds got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Lebanon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 350 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 197 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.

Lebanon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Simmonds and Malachi Simmonds. Josiah got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Lebanon's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-4. As for Camdenton, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.

Camdenton couldn't quite get it done against Lebanon when the teams last played back in October of 2023 as they fell 34-26. Can the Lakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
