Volleyball Recap: Mount Mercy Academy Comes Up Short

Mount Mercy Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the St. Mary's Lancers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Magic of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-8, 25-11, 25-11.

Mount Mercy Academy's offense was headlined by Taylor Ferris and Riley Coughlin, who picked up two kills apiece. They got some help from Mara McCrea and her six assists.

St. Mary's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cameryn Wanat, who had 21 assists and three digs. That's the most digs Wanat has posted over her last six contests. Another player making a difference was Brooke Moore, who had 12 assists and three aces.

Mount Mercy Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for St. Mary's, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-0.

Looking ahead, Mount Mercy Academy will take on West Seneca West at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Mary's, they have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Pittsford on the 27th.
