Basketball Game Preview: Hamilton County Foxes vs. Carterville Lions

The Hamilton County Foxes will take on the Carterville Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hamilton County will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Last Thursday, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Hamilton County made off with a 53-52 win over Fairfield.

Rayci Phelps continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 of 15 on her way to 25 points and six boards. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Hamilton County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylah Parkhill, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Carterville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They strolled past Murphysboro with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 51-37. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won five in a row.

Hamilton County pushed their record up to 17-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points over those games. As for Carterville, their victory bumped their record up to 9-18.

Hamilton County took their win against Carterville in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 53-28. Does Hamilton County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carterville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
