Soccer Game Preview: Millbrook vs. Fuquay - Varina

The Millbrook Wildcats will take on the Fuquay - Varina Bengals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Millbrook is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.9 goals per game this season.

Millbrook is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Carolina's top teams: Wake Forest, who was ranked eighth at the time (Millbrook was ranked 25th). While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Cougars who were credited with the win on Tuesday. Wake Forest got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Millbrook's two. Having soared to a lofty nine goals in the game before, Millbrook couldn't push the score so high this time.

Their goal came courtesy of Vella Habets, who's now up to two this season.

Fuquay - Varina is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Willow Spring just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Thursday. The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw. The result kept Fuquay - Varina happy, as they haven't lost a game since April 18th.

Millbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4-4. Fuquay - Varina's draw makes their record 15-6-1 this season.

Millbrook beat Fuquay - Varina 2-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2022. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Bengals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
