Soccer Game Preview: Terry Sanford vs. Purnell Swett

The Terry Sanford Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Purnell Swett Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Terry Sanford is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Cape Fear on Wednesday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Colts by a score of 3-2. Terry Sanford haven't had much luck with Cape Fear recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Rylan Ditmore and Casey Knight scored both of Terry Sanford's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

Meanwhile, Purnell Swett fought the good fight in their overtime match against Lumberton on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. Braylon Brooks was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Purnell Swett's loss dropped their record down to 8-11-2. As for Terry Sanford, they now have a losing record of 7-8-4.

Terry Sanford came out on top in a nail-biter against Purnell Swett in their previous matchup back in September, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
