Baseball Game Preview: Earlham Cardinals vs. Van Meter Bulldogs

Earlham is 1-9 against Van Meter since June of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cardinals will venture away from home to challenge the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m.

Earlham is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Saturday. They fell 6-1 to Interstate 35.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Van Meter made sure to put some runs up on the board against Panorama on Thursday. The Bulldogs never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Van Meter has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Earlham, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Earlham might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Van Meter in their previous meeting back in May. Can the Cardinals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
