Basketball Game Preview: Guthrie Jaguars vs. Paducah Dragons

The Guthrie Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Paducah Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Guthrie's defense has only allowed 28.1 points per game this season, so Paducah's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Guthrie easily dispatched Patton Springs on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Guthrie fell just short of Motley County by a score of 35-32 on Tuesday. The Jaguars' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Paducah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Spur 64-20. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1458th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 635th).

Paducah's loss dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Guthrie, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-4.

Guthrie couldn't quite finish off Paducah in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 33-31. Can Guthrie avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
