Blue Valley Southwest is 7-1-1 against Blue Valley North since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Timberwolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs.

Blue Valley Southwest is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kansas' top teams: Saint Thomas Aquinas, who was ranked 13th at the time (Blue Valley Southwest was ranked 12th). The Timberwolves took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saints on Tuesday. The game was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Blue Valley Southwest couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Blue Valley North ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past St. Teresa's Academy 4-3. The high-scoring effort was just what Blue Valley North needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Blue Valley North's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those six matches. As for Blue Valley Southwest, they moved to 4-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Blue Valley Southwest came out on top in a nail-biter against Blue Valley North when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Timberwolves repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
