Football Recap: Marcus Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Braswell last Friday, Marcus came back down to earth. The Marauders had to suffer through a 52-21 loss at the hands of the Guyer Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Marauders have suffered since October 18, 2024.

Despite the loss, Marcus still got an impressive performance from Colton Nussmeier, who threw for 194 yards and one TD on only 17 passes. Nussmeier's passing game has become a key predictor of the Marauders' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Kade McKnight was in the mix as well, providing Marcus with two scores.

Kaedyn Cobbs continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Guyer, rushing for 238 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Cobbs showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 66 yards.

Marcus has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Guyer, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Marcus is set to square off against their familiar foe Flower Mound at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. Meanwhile, Guyer will take on rival Little Elm at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
