Softball Recap: Ogden Takes a Loss

Ogden dropped down to 9-10 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 25-14 to the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Soaring Eagle apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.

Baelee Ulm made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Luedtke, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As for Juan Diego Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for Juan Diego Catholic, who have now won 11 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Juan Diego Catholic's side, Mattie Montoya was a standout: she fired off three triples, seven RBI, and two runs while going 5-for-5. Those seven RBI gave Montoya a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Payton Volk, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ogden will challenge Morgan at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.89 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Juan Diego Catholic, they will take on Cottonwood at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
