Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Baker vs. Nooksack Valley

The Mt. Baker Mountaineers will head out on the road to face off against the Nooksack Valley Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Mt. Baker and Blaine had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Mountaineers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Borderites last Thursday.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Nooksack Valley was not quite Meridian's equal in the second half last Thursday. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, Nooksack Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Meridian are ranked 91st).

Nooksack Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Mt. Baker, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Mt. Baker might still be hurting after the 4-1 defeat they got from Nooksack Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Mountaineers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
