Basketball Recap: Keawe Kalama's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sylmar over Crenshaw

Sylmar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Crenshaw Cougars, falling 68-48. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 88-75 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Sylmar lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Keawe Kalama, who posted 14 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Kalama a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Tim Tanner, who had 16 points.

Sylmar's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Crenshaw, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-7.
