Preview: Orestimba Warriors vs. Highlands Scots

The Orestimba Warriors will be playing at home against the Highlands Scots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Orestimba had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 49-7 victory over Gustine. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-0.

Juan Esquivez was his usual excellent self, rushing for 130 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Esquivez is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played.

Meanwhile, Highlands never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Vacaville Christian 42-0 at home. The victory was just what Highlands needed coming off of a 52-18 loss in their prior game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Highlands to victory, but perhaps none more so than Walter Lewis, who threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Covon Wheeler was another key contributor, rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.

Highlands' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Giovanni Rata and his two sacks.

Orestimba is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Highlands, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-5.

Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as the two teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Orestimba commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.6 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Highlands struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
