Basketball Recap: Father Lopez Takes a Loss

Father Lopez was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a 75-16 loss at the hands of the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas. The Green Wave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Barracudas apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2019.

When it comes to explaining why Father Lopez lost, don't look at Addy Fulton. Despite the final result, she posted ten points. That was a full 62.5% of Father Lopez's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

New Smyrna Beach found their leader in sophomore Iniya Reddicks, who went 11 of 14 on her way to 27 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. That's the most points Reddicks has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Fieldman, who earned six points along with nine assists and five steals.

Father Lopez's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for New Smyrna Beach, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Father Lopez wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 38-24 defeat against Foundation Academy on the 24th. New Smyrna Beach has also already played their next match, an 82-9 victory against Atlantic on the 27th.
