Ava Sims leads Riverview Sarasota to victory over Lemon Bay

Recap: Riverview Sarasota Rams vs. Lemon Bay Manta Rays

The Riverview Sarasota Rams came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 72-61 victory over Lemon Bay. Given Riverview Sarasota's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Lemon Bay is ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ava Sims was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Susan Lowther, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Lemon Bay's loss came despite strong showings from Myah Dickerson and Maya Collins. Dickerson dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Collins scored 19 points along with nine steals and six assists. Dickerson also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Long, who scored ten points along with seven assists and five rebounds.

Riverview Sarasota pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Lemon Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverview Sarasota will take on Cardinal Mooney at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lemon Bay, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome North Port at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully North Port focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 last Tuesday.
