Baseball Game Preview: La Jolla Country Day Torreys vs. Francis Parker Lancers

For the second straight game, La Jolla Country Day will face off against Francis Parker. The Torreys will welcome the Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. La Jolla Country Day's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Francis Parker's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While La Jolla Country Day's win against Francis Parker wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Torreys sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Lancers on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Torreys in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won six in a row.

Jamie Onaitis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because La Jolla Country Day is 5-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-6 otherwise.

At the plate, La Jolla Country Day let Mitch Circuit and Jackson Norum run wild. Circuit went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Norum scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those two doubles gave Circuit a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Rock, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

The defeat snapped Francis Parker's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-5-1 record. As for La Jolla Country Day, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
