Baseball Recap: Oaks Christian Gets the Win

While Oaks Christian's victory against Westlake wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions had just enough and edged out the Warriors 5-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Connor Sahagun looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Quentin Young was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Brown, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Oaks Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matches.

Oaks Christian's record now sits at 14-7. As for Westlake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-6.

Looking ahead, Oaks Christian will host Santa Paula at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Westlake, they are taking a road trip to take on Harvard-Westlake at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 4, the Wolverines 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
