Softball Recap: Campo Verde Comes Up Short

Campo Verde was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 11-8 to the Horizon Huskies. Even though they lost, the Coyotes' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Brooklyn Giefski made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Reaghann Ritz also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Campo Verde's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Horizon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Campo Verde will take on Higley at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Higley has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.56 runs per game on average), something Campo Verde will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Horizon, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Casteel at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Horizon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
