Basketball Recap: Jasmyn Hughes Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Templeton

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Cabrillo on Friday. They took down the Templeton Eagles 53-34. That's more bragging rights for the Conquistadores, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cabrillo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jasmyn Hughes, who made all 5 shots she took racking up 10 points along with five boards and three steals. Hughes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Natalie Mccune, who posted six points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Cabrillo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Cabrillo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Templeton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cabrillo will host San Luis Obispo at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Luis Obispo will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Cabrillo surely won't give up without a fight. As for Templeton, they will be playing at home against Lompoc at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
