Rosemead and El Monte are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Panthers will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Lions at 3:15 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Rosemead and 28 for El Monte dating back to last season.

Rosemead fell victim to Arroyo and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 7-0 to the Knights. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly seven runs.

Meanwhile, El Monte didn't have quite enough to beat Gabrielino on Friday and fell 6-5.

Rafael Lopez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, El Monte saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Aleman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Another was Jaime Hernandez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Rosemead's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for El Monte, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Everything went Rosemead's way against El Monte in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Rosemead made off with a 13-3 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
