It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Geibel Catholic ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They slipped by the Monessen Greyhounds 71-70. This was a revenge game for the Gators: when they faced off against the Greyhounds back in January, they had to take a 71-61 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Geibel Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Evan Strimel, who went 10 for 13 on his way to 25 points and six rebounds. Strimel continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gary Tarbuk, who went 7 of 14 to rack up 17 points and six boards.

Geibel Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Geibel Catholic's record now sits at 13-9. As for Monessen, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.

Geibel Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monessen, they and Washington will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
